Oil changes are NOT rocket science. I own 2001, 2008, 2023, and 2024 Chevrolet vehicles and only trust routine service done by me. I am not an automotive tech, but I am a 50-year gear head. Read the fabulous manual and have at it!

It's like the tire man who got a hernia and tried to to get his workman's comp. He goes to a meeting and the shop owner was there and said, it could have happened at home or somewhere else. He got denied! In other words, it's hard to prove. I bet you can count the number of cars Walmart paid to have fixed on one hand, and it took a lawyer and legal action to get them to do that. Not all shops or quick lubes are bad. I've seen mistakes made at all shops including dealerships. Every shop makes mistakes, they all had oil change mistakes and loose lugnuts at some point. I worked at an independent shop and requested to the owner I need a drain plug gasket. He said it wasn't leaking when it came into the shop was it? I say no. He said, well put it back on there! I put it back on and it didn't leak, but it could have leaked. If it wasn't leaking when it comes in and it's leaking afterwards, then it must be the mechanics fault right? So he should take his personal vehicle and drive to town and buy a new part, right? 🤣 Do you think Jiffy Lube places or Walmart oil change guys make enough money to cover their own mistakes? Well they don't have that rubber gasket, so you will need a $10 drain plug, but there's a problem. It's aftermarket junk and not even the same wrench size! 😳 Doesn't Meinikee have a quick lube waiter service? Hell even dealerships have a quick lube lane now. Hurry up, he's waiting! Don't forget the free rotate & balance. Quick like a rabbit!

My second job was at oil express. it was run like a tight ship. Ex navy owner, we would call out each procedure loudly in our 30 point oil change. Like "CAR COMINGIN' OIL DRAIN OUT, OIL DRAN IN, POWER STEERING FLUID LOW FILLING UP etc. Never saw a comeback.

Shop I was at added the 3 teir oil change system with 3 different inspection sheets. 18 different measurements, battery test, AF check, lookup all specs, milage, plate, print lube sticker, paid only 0.4, 0.8 mid, 1.0 top.

Just seen this, i work for meineke 2377 and i just had a vw rabbit and not the cool one but the egg shaped one. Come in with the oil filter o ring not installed properly and only about a quart left inside the engine, making all kinds of racket. My first instinct was their exhaust was dragging on the ground but it was actually engine noise. As well as a mini cooper that the poor old lady thought the oil was coming from her intake pipe but they had crossthreaded the fill cap and it was spraying out.

Ask an old tech to program a module using a j2534. They will claim they only work on 90's and older stuff because new stuff is trash

I've known more than a few pole dancers in my 63 ears and every one of them has been a nutcase. Quite a few pretty ones but without the makeup and everything on they were like maybe a 5 or 7 or something. Catalytic converter are good to have but if mine ever goes bad I just replace it with a straight pipe.

A lot of techs maybe physically at work 40 hours or less but they're getting more in labor time paid out to them.

Have you done the new Nissans with the plastic skid plates with no screws just 21 push pins and it is one peice that goes literally past the a frame area. Can’t quick lube that.

Loosen the distributor with the bent wrench, aim strobe light at crank fully and have second guy turn distributor then tighten down distributor. The good old days when tune ups were done in the dark and was easy using 2 people.. God forbid I used old school lingo pertaining to setting time using the word retard/advance- I'd be canceled by today's snowflake wussies

I'm 48 y/o and work 88 to 91 hour weeks in heavy construction:outdoors, in the heat and cold out in the street or highways doing jackhammering and lifting 3 to 4 thousand pounds of material daily. These young are lightweight napkins compared to prior generations. Only can imagine how the military is holding up with new flake standards.
